Digital Imaging

Animal Health Care Center always has your pet’s best interest at heart. We make sure that we stay up to date on the latest techniques and treatments so that we can diagnose and treat your pet most accurately. Digital radiography and ultrasound are two of the most effective tools that enable our veterinarians to safely and quickly assess the status of injuries or diseases that may be affecting your pet. We offer our digital imaging services to pets in Waynesboro, Staunton, and other neighboring communities in Augusta County.
Digital Radiography
Digital radiography is a painless, non-invasive procedure that captures images of the body’s internal organs and skeletal system using very low doses of radiation. These images can be manipulated, enhanced, and contrasted, allowing our veterinarians to diagnose a condition more accurately. This technology provides high quality imaging and extremely fast results with fewer retakes and less stress for your pet. It also enables us to burn your x-rays to a disk or email them to your regular vet or for referrals.
Typically, digital radiography can help with diagnosing fractures, locating foreign objects, bowel obstructions, bladder stones, detecting masses such as tumors, diagnosing pneumonia, discovering pregnancies, chronic arthritis, heart disease, as well as certain cancers and spinal cord diseases.
Ultrasound
This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine internal organs, muscles, and vessels. We routinely use ultrasound to check for tumors, obtain a cytological sample, or check for bladder stones. Our ultrasound is also used in cardiology, urology, emergencies, pregnancies, and to evaluate the gastric system.
An ultrasound helps detect pregnancies and the health of the fetus in your cat or dog. It also allows us to check hearts for disease, abnormal size, or tumors.
